The BETFOR Association The BETFOR (British Element Trieste Force) Association exists: To provide a link in reuniting comrades, dependents, relations, and acquaintances who, over the years, have lost contact with each other, including the citizens of Trieste. To establish and maintain the history and traditions of the various Regiments, Corps and Organisations who served with the Force in Trieste, or in the earlier 55 Area. The Association aims to re-establish and promote cultural, historical and personal relationships between the Members and the Citizens of Trieste. The Association has a light administrative structure, so will be whatever its members make of it. ---- The Constitution 1. The membership of the Association shall consist of all members of the Armed Forces, Civilian Organisations, dependents and relations who served with or were attached to any unit forming part of the British Element Trieste Force and earlier, in the Venezia Giulia. 2. Subscriptions for Full and Associate Membership shall be decided yearly by the Committee and announced in due time in the Journal, annually. Honorary membership shall be free. 3. A Committee of not more than six members shall be elected annually to manage the affairs of the Association. 4. Three Committee members shall form a quorum. 5. Committee Members may resign after giving notice in writing to the Secretary. 6. New Committee Members are to be elected by existing Committee Members. 7. Committee Members may be expelled after an absolute majority of the Committee have so voted. A motion to expel a Member of the Committee shall be notified to all Committee members at least two weeks prior to the meeting. 8. The Association shall be automatically dissolved if the Committee fails to meet for a period greater than two years. 9. On the dissolution of the Association any remaining funds shall be remitted among current members or to a charity appointed by the Committee Members. 10. The Officers of the Association shall be the Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and editor who shall be elected annually from among the membership by simple majority vote. 11. No Committee Member may hold more than one vote. 12. The Chairman shall chair Committee meetings and public meetings of the Association or delegate others to do so in his absence. His ruling on points of order and his interpretation of the Rules shall be final unless overruled by a majority of the Committee. He shall have a casting vote where there is no clear majority. 13. The duty of the Secretary shall include keeping the minutes of the Association meetings, maintaining a Membership Roll, attending to correspondence and to enquiries concerning recruitment. 14. The Treasurer shall manage the finances of the Association and provide annual accounts for audit by the Committee or other appointed body. 15. The Editor shall be solely responsible for the production of the Association Newsletter and its distribution. The Association holds no corporate view. The views expressed in articles within Newsletters are those of the individual and do not represent the views of the Association in general. 16. These Rules may be amended only by a two-third majority of the full membership of the Committee and only after a motion has been put to the Committee with no less than two weeks notice. 17. The Association reserves the right to refuse or revoke the membership of any person the Association deems undesirable.
